Day 1

What is a turtle
Who has lost its shell
Is it a turtle?

Or maybe its not a turtle
So what is a person
With out a soul
Or with out a skin?

Maybe its not a person
But what defines a person
Could it be love and compassion
Or maybe even anger in its darkest depths.

And what is death
If a turtle with out a shell
Is not a turtle?

And if a turtle without a shell
Do people have shells to hide in?

And once we lose these shells,
Toss them into the shadowy depths
And raise ourselves from a sea
Are we still ourselves?

And what if we grow a shell
Will the stars still see us as we sit
Or will we be different
From that void of darkness.

Or perhaps we don't know its a
Void of Darkness
Or perhaps it's
Exactly what it says on the tin.

Are we what it says on the tin?
Do even the wise man
Who sit and eat in the valley
Below us
Know?

Or are these predestined so we
May never know the answer
Which may sit right upon our head
Waiting and waiting

And waiting
As it did when the great prophets
And philosophers
and wise man
Tried to grasp it and give it to others.

Like the exception to the rule
Of evolution, the story does not change
It is the same and relate able.

But perhaps it is a story
We may never here
Slumbering in
A void of darkness.
